Kakobuy spreadsheet: EU shipping & customs

Understand European parcel quotes, current low-value import rules and the questions to ask before you ship.

Compare the complete route terms for your country. “Tax-free” in a route name is not an exemption granted by this website.

A roughly 3.1 kg parcel on a Europe-labelled route.

A Reddit contributor reported using Kakobuy’s packing/rehearsal option, then submitting a parcel on “Europe DHL Line”. They said shipping cost more than expected. This is a community account, not an independently verified shipment record.

What this helps you ask

Before dispatch, ask for the packed weight, the route’s billable-weight calculation and the full quote for your own country. The post provides no paid amount or arrival date, so it cannot support a cost estimate or delivery promise for your parcel.

Plan your own quoted costs

The small-parcel rules changed in July 2026

The Council’s adopted rules introduce an interim €3 duty for each tariff item category in qualifying small parcels under €150 from 1 July 2026. This is not a universal €3 cap on an entire mixed parcel. The Commission’s guidance explains the scope and calculation. Check the current official guidance and your national customs authority for your shipment.

Separate VAT, duty and handling

A route quotation may include some charges and exclude others. Ask who collects import VAT, how any duty is handled and whether the carrier can charge a clearance fee. Keep the written answer with the parcel record. Do not treat an agent’s promotional subsidy as a permanent EU rule.

Check your exact destination

A route available to mainland Germany may have different terms for an island or another territory. Use the actual country, postcode and item types in the agent estimator. EU, Europe, the euro area and the customs territory are different concepts; the UK, Switzerland and Norway require their own checks.

Compare the packed parcel

Check whether the quotation uses actual or volumetric weight. Bulky shoe boxes and outer packaging can change the billed weight. Ask for a packing or rehearsal estimate if offered, and compare the final amount before dispatch. Removing packaging can affect protection and return options.

Keep the declaration accurate

Use accurate product descriptions, values and supporting invoices. Do not copy a declaration formula from a forum or understate the value. If you are unsure about a category or restricted item, ask the agent and the destination customs authority before shipping.

Use community reports as questions to ask

European Reddit discussions show different experiences with the same route. They are useful prompts about tracking, lost parcels and packing, but a single post cannot predict your delivery. Compare the destination, dispatch date, parcel contents and route conditions before applying someone else’s experience.

Questions about European parcels

Does an all-in quote settle every possible charge?

Ask what the quote includes and who handles each component: international carriage, VAT, customs duty and carrier processing. Confirm the destination, goods and applicable route conditions in writing. A service label by itself does not establish a customs exemption or a final assessment.

What details make a route comparison useful?

Use the same destination postcode, contents and packed parcel dimensions in each comparison. Check billed weight, restrictions, coverage and the event from which a delivery estimate starts. A community post without those details cannot establish a comparable price or delivery time.

Is the temporary €3 customs duty a flat charge per parcel?

The Council describes it by different tariff-item categories in qualifying low-value parcels, not as one universal charge for a mixed parcel. Its published example has two categories and a €6 duty. Read the current Commission guidance for the applicable scope and keep VAT and carrier charges separate.
